Since 1950, a 1947 Buick Super 8 has sat outside under covered parking at the Mallet Ranch headquarters, slowly being overtaken by the elements. The Buick belonged to and was driven by Christine DeVitt, daughter of founder David DeVitt Sr., for a total of 22,307 miles. On February 1st of 2024, under the supervision of Bill Lane (Mallet manager), Cheryl Sanford (Financial Officer/Treasurer of the CH Foundation), Sandy Ogletree (Executive Director of the CH Foundation), and John Shanklin (attorney for Helen Jones Foundation and CH Foundation), the vehicle was officially towed off premises. This historic car was taken for restoration and display by the National Ranching Heritage Center, to which Miss DeVitt made the first major donation over 50 years ago.
